Verdict
Only One Matty gets the call here ahead of King Of Arms. Running through the field. Sir Rowland Hill has not really progressed so far this year after being well-considered by his large stable last year. The jury is out on him at present although the step up to three miles could help the cause. Only One Matty won over course and distance from a mark of 94 last month. Just touched off over a shorter trip here last time out from a mark of 100, he remains competitive from the same rating. Lambhill Stakes showed promise in novice events a year or more ago but has so far failed to build on that. Special Branch has had just three runs over hurdles, showing some promise, but he takes a big step up in trip here. There are two schools of thought as to whether it will suit but, in what is now a strong race overall, his presence adds some intrigue. Duke Of Brittany has so far shown little in a light career, but King Of Arms won a three-mile amateur event at Hexham from a mark of 78 in December. Now rated 82, he could give the selection the most to think about. Overall, though, Only One Matty gets the vote.
