In depth

Verdict

Golden Odyssey is the selection here but it was a close call with Beauchamp Gigi looking the biggest danger and one or two others also looking of interest. Mary Reveley has always liked Golden Odyssey and she duly obliged at the first time of asking when winning a 13-furlong bumper at Doncaster in November. She looks set to go very well again with the step up to two miles likely to suit. Topanbery showed plenty of promise when second on her racecourse debut, while Beauchamp Gigi won well on her Cork debut for John Kiely and has since found her way to owner Graham Wylie. She was well regarded by the Irish handler and is a leading player in this race. Of the others, there is plenty of speed in Sabreflight's pedigree, so watch the betting for clues, while Clichy certainly showed promise in what was, admittedly, a modest bumper on her debut. Agnese is out of a mare that won five times at up to 10 furlongs on the Flat, and her grandmother was a half-sister to the Champion Hurdle winner Beech Road. Once again, monitor the betting with interest. This is quite a decent race of its kind, with, as we say, our vote just going to Golden Odyssey.
