Verdict
Shogun Prince could be the one here, with others to consider including Surf City, Fortress and, possibly, Rhinebird. Now, Richard Hannon runs the eyecatching Feu d'Artrice here, but his other runner, Surf City, a promising second on his debut here over six furlongs, looks a threat to all, although he is not well-drawn. Behind him in third that day, Shogun Prince, is better drawn now and, looking set to appreciate the seventh furlong, must be seriously considered. However, in fourth place was another eyecatcher in Fortress, who was doing good late work after running green, and she too has to be respected. The James Fanshawe-trained Rhinebird catches the eye on breeding and, if supported, the 31,000 guineas purchase can go well. He is possibly the stronger of the trainer's two entries. Cavewarrior needs to improve on his debut, but could well do so, and it is interesting to see Colin Tinkler running one here, which is Desert Sea. Ollie George and Peter Island can improve on their debuts, while Seven Sumarai is another to note on pedigree. However, unless the market tells a different story, the vote goes to Surf City.
