In depth
Verdict
In a tricky race, we will side with Ballyhooligan ahead of mainly Trimlestown and Boss Mak The 19,000 guineas purchase, Boss Mak, could be interesting, while Ballyhooligan showed late headway last time and a step up in distance today could bring further gains. Henry Candy's 25,000 guineas purchase, Trimlestown showed promise on his debut and should have better to come, while the Jane Chapple-Hyam-trained Chief Commander could be one to look at in the betting, and her husband's Husam certainly is. Great Composer's debut suggested ability, but he did not follow it up at Wolverhampton last time, Hand Of Destiny is related to a number of winners but his debut was none-too-auspicious, while Hits Only Life is a possible given his canny yard and American pedigree. Finally, Sigismundus is the most expensive in the line-up at 31,000 guineas and you would like to think that he is better than his debut effort might have suggested. Overall, though, and given the normal caveat about the betting, we will side with Ballyhooligan.
