In depth

Verdict

Proper is worth persevering with now that he has found out what it takes to win a race again and he gets the nod over Reeling N' Rocking and Million Percent. The last named is a consistent type that has paid his way in win and place money over the years. However, the eight-year-old is totally exposed and faces no easy test under top weight. He has won on this surface, though, and cannot be confidently ruled out. Reeling N' Rocking is on a winning mark and, as he has relatively few miles on the clock, he may a bit more to offer at this level. A market move would be dangerous to ignore. Looks Could Kill is another to bear in mind on that score, as he has little to find top get competitive in this company. He is unexposed on the surface and a is capable of making his presence know if in the right frame of mind. However, Proper - a worthy winner at Kempton last time - is still well treated on the pick of his past form. So, considering he has won off a mark of 76 in the past, Proper still looks well treated in spite of his 6lb penalty this afternoon.
