In depth
Verdict
An ordinary novice stakes can go to Bold Marc, who narrowly edges the vote over Elgin Marbles, whose previous effort on this surface left a little to be desired and he now has something to prove. Postgraduate and Three Deuces are two potential spoilers in the pack, while Miss Tolerance was seen to better effect over this trip when she was last seen in action and still has a fair amount of scope for improvement. All three are worth monitoring in the betting for signs of support. However, Bold Marc helps to set the standard that the rest have to aim for judging by the official figures for the race and, with this surface not likely to be a problem for him, he has a good chance to prove the handicapper about right with his assumptions at this stage. The son of Bold Fact has fared well against some useful rivals lately and he can take a further step towards proving his trainer right with his thinking that there a further prizes to be won with him. Starting with today.
