Verdict

Those that have raced previously are nothing special but have a slight advantage over the newcomers so Spectested, Equus, Fu Fighter and Suave Quartet look to be the ones to concentrate on. With the last named getting a slender vote. The Gerard Butler-trained colt shaped with a fair amount of promise on his debut after missing the kick over seven furlongs at Salisbury. However, he showed a glimpse of more to come when staying on well near the finish - leaving the impression that this step up to a mile should ideally suit. Spectested and Equus are others who should make their mark in handicaps in the future - while Polar Dancer hails from a yard that have hit top form in the last few weeks and is one to watch in the betting. However, Suave Quartet fits a typical profile of a youngster from the Butler camp and the son of Slew city Slew has the opportunity to pay back the first installment of his 24,000gns purchase price.
