      In depth

      Verdict

Golband can get back to winning ways at the expense of Patternmaker, with Ben's Gorgie and Cree others to note in the opener. Golband has been coming to hand this season, and after chasing home Daniella at Yarmouth it was no surprise when she went one better at Folkestone next time as it was her first venture into lowly class 6 company. She did not run up to her form at Nottingham last time, but seven of the first eight home that day were all drawn high and so she faced an impossible task from stall three, with Jamie Spencer easing her down when she was obviously beaten. However, she did show good speed for four furlongs and should not be discarded on the strength of that one run. Today's apprentice was on board when she scored at Folkestone and hopes are high that she can bounce back. Patternmaker has topweight, and in addition, although blinkers worked the oracle at Hamilton in July, he has done nothing in two subsequent outings. Ben's Georgie is lightly weighted, has a recent win to his credit and a good jockey on board so may well improve again to take a hand, while Cree has generally been in good order all season and is another that can play a part, but Golband is selected to bounce back.
