In depth
Verdict
Grand Entrance can beat Fancy Day, with Rubileo and Lake Poet likely to run well in division one of the maiden. With fitness expected to play a major part in proceedings, Grand Entrance can benefit from the step up to seven furlongs to open his account. He stayed on well behind Crooner at Windsor in July and on this better ground he should go close. Fancy Day was a promising third at Leicester on her debut back in May, and on breeding should appreciate today's distance, but in truth will need the run. Rubileo picked up very well in the closing stages at Folkestone last time and will be interesting when stepped up to a mile, while Lake Poet has a good bit of experience, having taken on Group company last time. This should really represent a sound opportunity for Clive Britain's colt but he has shaped as though this trip is too short so far, and if he is to open his account it will surely be in excess of a mile. Any support for Fregate Island would be interesting, but we return to Grand Entrance as the answer.
