Verdict
Not the strongest of races by any stretch of the imagination and Rainbow River is a confident choice to prevail against some modest rivals. Michael Chapman's gelding made a promising start to his hurdling career when giving backers of the smart Man O'Mystery a fright at Market Rasen earlier in the month and confirmed the merit of the form when justifying favouritism in good style at Fakenham last week. Well suited by the conditions and, with further improvement anticipated, the Rainbows For Life gelding will prove hard to beat. Scotish Law appeared to leave previous efforts behind when chasing home a useful type at Hereford last time but the winner was heavily eased and the form looks misleading. Streamsforth Lad, who showed ability in bumpers last year, made a pleasing introduction over hurdles here in November but has been well beaten on all starts since while Courser's Cove faces no easy task, particularly after a four-month break.
