Verdict

Brunston found little off the bridle when only fourth on his hurdling debut at Doncaster. Tony McCoy takes over in the saddle today but the fitting of blinkers doesn't convince that the formerly useful Flat performer will recoup losses here. Just as interesting is Not In The Clock, who was placed several times on the level and shaped with promise at Sandown earlier in the month. Preference, however is for PAINTBALL even though he couldn't justify favouritism at Warwick last time. Charlie Longsdon's four-year-old pulled much too hard on that occasion but his earlier second at Huntingdon reads well in the context of this race and he is worth another chance. Alonso De Guzman was second over 2m4f at Fakenham last month and this shorter trip may not play to his strengths.
