Verdict

It's hard to recommend anything with confidence, so only a speculative investment is placed in Kaparolo, while Alpha Juliet, United Spirit and Ivana Illyich are others to consider for those that cannot resist having a small wager for the purposes of interest. Ivan Illyich is a previous course and distance winner that is still open to improvement over jumps. She is capable when everything goes right for her but may need a little more give in the ground. United Spirit has also shown consistency in his starts over timber and shapes as if he can pay his way at this level. Firm ground is ideal for him and, assuming he is available at sensible odds, he is worth a saver in this company. Alpha Juliet has not stood much racing of late but does have the ability to go close in a race of this nature. She copes with most types of ground and will dangerous to ignore. However, Kaparolo has the best record of this modest bunch and, as Andrew Thornton knows him well, the seven-year-old comes here with a live chance of landing his fifth career win over hurdles.
