In depth
Verdict
It's tricky to win bumpers under a penalty but DEAR SAM changed hands for a lot of cash after his victory in a Sligo contest on debut so we'll give him the chance to follow up ahead of Pyracantha while Tahiti Pearl looks the most interesting newcomer. It should be that the pick as more to offer after his late, late show to claim gold on his first start. His price tag when changing hands suggests his new connections think plenty of him and any market support would be very significant. Pyracantha shaped well on his first two starts but didn't run to his best on his reappearance run. It seems too early to rule him out so we wouldn't be surprised to see him bounce back. Tahiti Pearl is well bred and should make up into a chaser in time again market positives would give him further claims while Club Class has a similar pedigree to the one we've just mentioned but will be best over longer trips. As always with these races the market will guide us further but we'll stick with Dear Sam for now.
