In depth

Verdict

Puerto Azul, McMurrogh and Erin's Own all enter the shortlist and we are with the first named. Puerto Azul had ran a fair fourth at Ascot before a race to forget at Market Rasen. A reproduction of that first line of form gives him solid form claims. McMurrogh is to be respected as his breeding is very much on flat lines. From a family that includes the likes of David Junior, he could be anything. Erin's Own was punted heavily on introduction under rules. A winning pointer, it will be fascinating to see if any of that lost cash is chased here. Unoitmakessense was a well-beaten fourth on introduction. Billy The Saddler is related to staying types so it would be no surprise to see him need the run. Moon Phase did not build upon an encouraging debut at Kelso and is now at his fourth visit to the racecourse. Walamo ran much too green to do himself justice at Wetherby and is surely capable of more. A race where the market will make sense of the newcomers and we stick with the proven Puerto Azul.
