Brooklyn Brownie has a nice racing weight and is selected as the one to be on in a wide open renewal of Market Rasen's seasonal feature race. Oumeyade, Il Duce and William Butler head the list of dangers, while Mcevoy is an interesting contender at the likely odds. And he could be a lively contender to make the frame at a nice price. Yet another to bear in mind would be Yes Sir, who won the race in 2006 and has a feasible chance from just a 4lb higher mark. But his recent form is poor and it will also take a leap of faith to side with him in this follow up attempt. William Butler has been in good form and is chasing a five-timer this afternoon. He goes well at this course but this may be a bridge too far in terms of quality. Il Duce is very good when he gets it right and has the ability to take a race of this nature by the scruff of the neck, if he keeps his mind on the job. This is a drop in grade for Alan King's charge and he has to merit serious consideration. Oumeyade, who has been in sparkling form this year, represents Paul Nicholls and should make a bold bid to cement the champion trainer in his position at the top of the tree. The gelding's tendency to jump to the right is not such a worry at this right-handed track and a big run is anticipated. However, better value may lay with Brooklyn Brownie, who has hit form just at the right time to contest this valuable prize. As a previous course and distance winner, the Malcolm Jefferson-trained gelding knows his way around Market Rasen and, with the ground conditions also in his favour, the nine-year-old rates as a solid betting proposition today.
