Verdict

In a tight affair to end proceedings at the Lincolnshire track, Amptina, despite racing from six-pounds out of the handicap, is selected over Scotmail Lad, The Alleycat and Henrianjames. Sue Smith's eight-year-old Amptina was 'wrong' in the weights when making a winning debut for the yard at Bangor in August. Unsuccessful previously in Ireland, the son of Shardari impressed with his jumping when just getting home at Southwell 11 days ago. Although his form is not that special, he is genuine enough and off his light weight, is worth chancing. Scotmail Lad in contrast has to shoulder 12st 4lb, and even though he lines up in form, that is a tall order. The Alleycat was game enough at Fontwell last time and is sure to go well, but Henrianjames is a bit in and out and let his supporters down last time. So, for the answer we return to Amptina.
