In depth

Verdict

A very impressive debut-winning performance from the Venetia Williams-trained Wiscalitus, who eased clear of his opponents from the third-last flight to win as he pleased under Alan O'Keeffe. The only surprise was his starting price, 5/4 favourite, as this smart former Flat runner in France was originally forecast to go off at odds-on. It was left to Salinas to chase the winner home but, in truth, this was the proverbial one-horse race.
