Verdict
A competitive contest gets proceedings underway and many would have chances on their best form but the principals look to be Beyond Borders, Major Shark and Harry Collins and the tentative vote goes to the last named. The selection has been in fair form of late and a reproduction of his latest second behind Mandingo Chief under similar conditions would make him hard to beat. Beyond Borders rates the main danger on his best form. He was a fair fifth behind Greenfield last time but he just gave the impression he was in the handicappers grip and for that reason he is opposed. Major Shark ran as if returning to form when third behind The Kelt last time and he has drooped to a handy mark but he is not the most consistent of performers and is opposed for that reason. Jac An Ree showed a modicum of ability in bumpers and is from a top yard but he has not progressed over hurdles. Of the remainder Sportsman is from a shrewd yard and is worth noting in the market but for the winner we return to Harry Collins.
