In depth

Verdict

William Buick has won the last three of these for Godolphin and Walton Street has been hugely impressive in winning a Listed handicap and the Group 2 Dubai City Of Gold in recent weeks. Bill Mott's Channel Maker completed a Grade 1 double at Saratoga and Belmont before heading for Keeneland and the Breeders' Cup Turf where he led until caught close home. He reappeared at Riyadh last month and beat all bar Willie Mullins' True Self with the remainder well beaten. He had MOGUL behind at Keeneland though Aidan O'Brien's charge got a much more forceful ride when landing the Hong Kong Vase and looks the type to improve again this campaign. Mishriff, in brilliant form last summer, won the Saudi Cup at Riyadh last month and is an obvious contender as is the Japan-based Chrono Genesis, who has won two Grade 1's in her last four starts and was only just beaten in another two.
