Verdict
Recent Catterick winner Signed And Dated is set to go up a further 7lbs in future handicaps so can be considered well treated but this looks to be an altogether tougher assignment for the six-year-old and preference is for Donovan, who gets the vote over Classic Calvados. The last mentioned is a consistent performer and is entitled to be thereabouts again but may, once more, have to settle for a minor role. Ferdy Murphy's Swallow Magic, a maiden hurdle winner in Ireland, has struggled in three starts in handicaps since joining current connections and of more interest may be Acceleration, who showed improved form in novice company at Ayr last time. George Moore's Agnese and Keith Reveley's Clouding Over are others worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Donovan. Richard Guest's gelding has a 7lb penalty to carry for his win at Wetherby on Monday but that was a better race than today's and, with plenty more to come from the New Zealand-bred gelding, he is taken to follow up.
