Verdict
This does not look to be particularly strong contest and the safest option may be L'Oiseau, who is preferred to Double Blade and Kalou. The last mentioned has his first outing since joining the stable of Chris Grant from Barney Curley and although having claims on the pick of his form is probably best watched at present. Ferdy Murphy's string continues in good form at present but Native Legend has given little sign of encouragement of late and is best passed over. Top weight Double Blade was good enough to win a beginners' chase at Cartmel in July but looked in need of the run on his return last month and may well need another run or two to put him spot on. With Jallastep and Rockerfella Lad making limited appeal a bigger threat may come from Richard Guest's Gabla, who has slipped to an attractive mark but needs to improve to trouble the selection. The vote then goes to L'Oiseau. Len Lungo's gelding has yet to race over fences but so weak is the opposition that the six-year-old would not need to be much better than he is over hurdles to win this.
