Verdict

An interesting two-mile handicap closes the card and from a shortlist that includes Sonoma, Gargoyle Girl, Dance Light and Sharadi, we will opt for Sharadi. The selection has yet to win a race but has run well when second in each of his last two races, which includes a good effort here on Saturday. Provided he has recovered from those exertions, he looks set to go well again. Although she has to concede weight to the field, Sonoma remains competitive from her current mark, while Millennium Hall won an apprentice handicap from a one-pound-higher mark in June, so comes into the reckoning on that basis. Being a course and distance winner, albeit from a six-pound lower mark, Gargoyle Girl must also be granted respect, while Dance Light, who tends to win at this time of year, won from an eight-pound higher mark two seasons ago, and may have needed her latest run so do not rule out a good run from her. Although on a winning mark, Millennium Hall has yet to race over a trip this far, while Spring Breeze, despite some reasonable efforts, has yet to win a race and was beaten when sent off as favourite last time. This, once again, brings us back to the selection which is Sharadi.
