In depth

Rothesay Chancer is chasing a hat-trick over this C&D but has been found wanting in this higher grade in the past and is now on a career-high mark. FAST SHOT was only third to the top weight here on his penultimate start but is 5lb better off today and won well over 6f at Redcar last time. Tim Easterby's gelding looks progressive and can come out on top today. Take Root stepped up on previous form when second at Catterick but both Saxonette and Irish Boy might struggle to reverse recent running with Rothesay Chancer.

Rothesay Chancer 7-4fav (9-4) Tracked leaders, improved over 1f out, led inside final furlong, ran on, won at Musselburgh 5f 3yo hcp 0-65 (6) gd beating Tancred Spirit (8-0) by 1/2l, 8 ran.

Take Root 10-1 (9-0) Led, ridden and edged left over 1f out, kept on until headed and no extra towards finish, 2nd of 11, 1 1/4l behind Diamond Blue (8-12) at Catterick 5f 3yo mdn aut (6) gd in May.

Fast Shot 5-2fav (8-11) Dwelt, soon close up centre, ridden to lead over 1f out, ran on well, in control when hung badly left under pressure to far rail inside final furlong, comfortably, won at Redcar 6f 3yo hcp 0-70 (5) gf in May beating Fleurie Lover (8-3) by 1 1/4l, 9 ran.

Saxonette 15-2 (9-1) Chased leaders, driven over 2f out, weakened final furlong, 7th of 8, 11l behind Rothesay Chancer (9-4) at Musselburgh 5f 3yo hcp 0-65 (6) gd.

Bailadeira 100-1 (8-11) Chased leader until over 4f out, chased leaders until weakened well over 1f out, 11th of 12, 16l behind Layla Jamil (9-0) at Chester 7f mdn fll stks (4) gf in May.

Irish Boy (IRE) 3-1fav (9-3) In touch, ridden over 1f out, no impression, 7th of 13, 4 1/2l behind Rothesay Chancer (9-0) at Musselburgh 5f 3yo hcp 0-65 (6) gd in May.
