The term wide-open was invented for handicaps like this but with a weight-for-age allowance HONEST BROKER has terms in his favour and with his yard still in form lands the call at the expense of the ultra consistent Polish World and improving Shunkawakhan. A winner twice in the last five starts the selection only found the one too good off this mark last time out. That run gives him a clear chance as does his favourable position in the weights. Polish World notched up a hat-trick in June and based on his penultimate start still looks competitive off this mark, however, he has something to prove after his last outing. Shukawakhan has progressed in three starts this term and further progression is likely with 1lb removed from his back. Botham is respected after his last three runs but he looks to be developing a case of Seconditus so preference in a race where a number have chances is for Honest Broker.
