In depth
Verdict
Mary Read came with plenty of positive writeups before her debut and she can strike here at the expense of Campeon and Forfeiter. Bryan Smart's filly faced a tough introduction at Pontefract over five furlongs on soft going and having started well was guilty only of tiring close home. Chiselled ran well in a strong maiden at Haydock and would have finished closer granted a clear run. Forfeiter ran well in a modest race at the track and looks a likely future winner. Campeon is watched in the market while Secret Pact was expensively purchased and anything achieved at two will be a bonus. Mary Read is given the verdict in a race that should throw up plenty of winners.
