        Verdict

        Snap may be up to making a winning debut over the likes of Inchloss, Soviet Sceptre and Spartan Spear. Although Mark Johnston's newcomers always improve for the run, it would be no surprise if Snap were to come good at the first time of asking. Being a son of Dr Fong, he should cope with conditions as he is bred to easily get the trip, and the fact that he has been well entered up this week suggests that he will be ready to give a good account. One of his main rivals will be Inchloss who showed some ability at Haydock on only his second start last season. That was in soft ground but he is stoutly-bred on the dam's side and the drop back in trip is a bit of a worry. Soviet Sceptre faded out of contention over a mile at Lingfield in November and might be suited to the drop back in trip, while Called Up should be watched on his debut but is one to note as the season goes on. Private Jessica's stable is in good form so she can be expected to show up well, but for the winner we take a chance on Snap to go in first time.
