Verdict
Cool Customer is narrowly preferred over Rayhani, while Alambic is one to watch in the betting, as she may still have more to offer now that she has proved herself capable of staying the trip. Trance would also come into the reckoning on the best of his efforts and he too is worthy of consideration. The last named has been struggling off this sort of mark recently, though, and now has something to prove. Alambic has been typically well placed by Sir Mark Prescott and had already put together a nice little sequence of performances before suffering a surprise defeat last time. The daughter of Cozzene had been kept very busy and, as she got upset in the stalls at Haydock, it's hard to know whether she lost her race at the start or has simply reached a plateau for the time being. She has come a long way in a short time and, although she is entitled to take her chance, there is the suspicion that others have more scope. Rayhani being one. Marcus Tregoning has been patient with the son of Theatrical and has managed to coax a win and a place from his four starts this term. Nevertheless, he did hang badly during his latest start so it is not surprising to see him racing in headgear this afternoon. Therefore, we prefer to go Cool Customer, who looks a more straightforward individual and, as he is unexposed at the distance, he gets the nomination as the one with the most potential to rise to the challenge this afternoon.
