In depth

Verdict

Hurdles winner Holding Pattern won a maiden race on the Flat last month while stablemate Boho won at Roscommon before struggling in a Group 3 race. The latter is closely matched on handicap ratings with a similar type in Saracen Knight, though the Ballydoyle colt is making a belated seasonal debut having won a maiden contest at Gowran last year. CENTROID (NAP) is the least exposed and, with improvement expected after landing the odds at Leopardstown on his debut, Dermot Weld’s Irish St Leger entry gets the vote stepping up in trip today.
