Verdict

SMOKY HILL has progressed from race to race this term and thrashed his Yarmouth rivals on his third start of the campaign to the tune of 10 lengths a week ago. Admittedly, that was a modest contest but his previous run, when hunting up Viserion at Doncaster, also reads well in the context of this contest and he is taking to follow up with trip and ground to suit. The chief threat looks to be Unison who has made a successful transition to hurdling since joining Jeremy Scott. However, he was a four-time winner on the Flat for Peter Makin and returns to the level off a feasible mark. Thecornishbarron and Silver Alliance may also get involved, notably the former if able to repeat the form shown three starts ago when a fast-finishing second in a 1m2f Newmarket handicap.
