Verdict

A terrific renewal of this Group 1 looks in store. The Hannon yard has won four of the last six runnings and sent out the first two home last year when Night Of Thunder beat TOORMORE (NAP) a neck. The latter is back for more and must go close again given he got the better of fellow Godolphin runners Dutch Connection, Belardo and the pace-setting Barchan to win a Group 2 at Sandown on his reappearance. Mahsoob remains lightly raced and won a Group 2 when successful in the Earl Of Sefton at Newmarket last month but last year’s progressive three-year-olds Kodi Bear and Limato could prove bigger threats. Both won Group 2 races last year though the former may come out best of that pair today if the ground remains soft. Gabrial has a bit to find with Kodi Bear but Euro Charline ran well in a Group 1 at Meydan in March and Endless Drama has his first start since narrowly beaten in last year’s Irish 2000 Guineas. Both are preferred to Johnny Barnes and stablemate Gm Hopkins, who was ahead of Arod in Listed company at Ascot recently.
