In depth
Verdict
Cold Turkey proved himself to be at least as good on turf as on the all-weather when scoring at Epsom in the soft last time and has to be respected off a 6lb higher mark but there was plenty to like about the way Red Fort won at Haydock last month and he is preferred, with Swift Tango rated the main threat. The selection knuckled down well to hold the challenge of La Sylphide at Haydock and, with the runner-up again running a good race off a 5lb higher mark at York this week, the form has a solid look to it. Swift Tango deserves to win a race of this nature after some consistent performances and should be thereabouts again but, along with the likes of the Lady Herries-trained Wunderwood and Mick Channon's Flotta, has been done few favours with an outside draw. Mark Johnston's Financial Future can be expected to come on for his reappearance outing a fortnight ago and warrants a mention along with James Fanshawe's reappearing Defining and Mick Easterby's Nowell House, who not for the first time failed to show his best form at York last time. However, Red Fort has an obvious chance off just a 6lb higher mark than at Haydock, where the first two finished five lengths clear of the field and he gets the vote.
