Red Countess is taken to beat Adelfia, with Garafena, Sweet Spot and Jump Ship expected to make their presence felt as well. Red Countess made a very pleasing debut over the course-and-distance when a close third to Cortesia, and although she would not want conditions too fast, should have the fitness edge over Adelfia here. The latter is bred for middle-distances but made her introduction over seven furlongs on the Wolverhampton Polytrack last autumn. A half-sister to Adilabad, she will improve this year but might be a bit ring rusty despite encouraging reports. Irish raider Sweet Spot has plenty of experience and should make fitness count enough to take a hand, while Jump Ship is an interesting newcomer, being a half-sister to Cordage, with the dam being related to Bireme. Sheikh Hamdan has two runners here, with Martin Dwyer preferring the Ed Dunlop debutante Kitabaat, so any money for her would be worth noting, but for the winner we like the look of Red Countess.
