      Verdict

      The Trader failed to land the odds in a three-runner race at Doncaster last week and has become hard to place. Shailene has been mixing it in pattern race company this season and won a Listed race in Italy in June. He was a good third at Goodwood when last running in a handicap so has obvious claims, though proved no match for BLAKENEY POINT at Chester a year ago. Things haven’t quite gone to plan for Roger Charlton’s stayer this term but he’s caught the eye on a couple of occasions and this represents a decent opportunity dropped a further 2lb. None of the remaining trio can be dismissed out of hand in a tricky little contest.
