In depth

Ryan Moore takes up the first of two rides for Sir Michael Stoute at the meeting and SHAREEF STAR (NAP) can enhance the Newmarket trainer’s impressive strike rate here. The latter was something of a disappointment at Doncaster in March but the yard is in much better form now and he gets the vote. Dommersen struggled upped in class last time but won in this grade at Chelmsford in January and Delph Crescent may figure with an apprentice taking 5lb off his back today. Regal Director had just the one start last year and has been gelded since while Archie Perkins ended last season with a decent effort at Redcar.

Delph Crescent (IRE) 7-1 (9-7) Raced wide close up, ridden over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong, 3rd of 9, 8 1/4l behind Hortzadar (9-6) at Pontefract 1m hcp (4) gf in Apr.

Shareef Star 2-1fav (9-3) Held up in mid-division on inside, not clear run from over 2f out until switched right inside final furlong, unlucky, 7th of 12, 5 1/2l behind Stonific (9-1) at Doncaster 1m 2f hcp (4) gd in Mar.

Celestial Force (IRE) 4-1 (9-0) Keen led, pushed along and headed over 2f out, weakened final furlong, 7th of 9, 9 1/4l behind King's Advice (9-7) at Thirsk 1m 4f hcp (3) gf in Apr.

Regal Director (IRE) 12-1 (9-5) Pulled hard, led, went clear 7f out, came back to the field 4f out, headed inside final 3f, weakened and eased final 2f, 19th of 20, dist behind Young Rascal (9-5) at Newbury 1m 3f mdn stks (3) gs in Apr.

Casima 7-2cfav (8-9) Raced keenly, tracked leaders, weakened 2f out, tailed off and eased final furlong, last of 7, 26 3/4l behind Sea Youmzain (9-1) at Catterick 1m 6f hcp (4) gf in Aug.

Archie Perkins (IRE) 12-1 (8-10) Tracked leaders, effort to challenge over 2f out, led inside final 2f, ridden and headed inside final furlong, not pace of winner, 2nd of 15, 3 3/4l behind Winged Spur (9-1) at Redcar 1m 2f hcp (4) gd in Oct.

Dommersen (IRE) 20-1 (8-5) Dwelt towards rear, never nearer, 9th of 16, 12 1/4l behind Forbidden Planet (8-8) at Kempton 1m 3f hcp (2) pol in Mar.
