Verdict

The betting may reflect that this should rest between Andrew Balding’s maiden Consultant and KIRKLAND FOREVER (NAP). The latter is proven over the trip and was a comfortable winner on his reappearance at Windsor so gets the nod with the former stepping up again in distance after finishing third over 1m2f at Doncaster. Marengo hasn’t had much racing in the last three years but any rain would enhance his chances and stablemate Ascot Day has each-way claims from the opposite end of the handicap.
