In depth

Formwatch

Taffs Well Has not been running well of late and is probably best swerved in this trappy contest.

Typhoon Ginger (IRE) Generally consistent of late but has yet to show he goes on soft ground and others preferred.

Kingsdon (IRE) Muddling sort whose best race this year was over 7f on fast ground but whose best run last year came on heavy ground over a mile. You decide.

China Red (USA) Has lost a little of his shine of late and is not one to put your faith in; seems to like it bottomless these days.

Clever Girl (IRE) Best efforts this season have come on firm ground whereas her best runs last term came on soft; not consistent but capable on her day.

Flambe Best run this term has come at this track but has been below par of late and could struggle here.

Troubleshooter Coming back from long absence and may not be able to get competitive today.

Ticker Fairly consistent but consistent below the level required to win this.

Copplestone (IRE) Seems to handle most surfaces but at least 10lb better when it is like a 'road'.

Mac Be Lucky Has disappointed on his last two runs but trainer starting to hit form and is an interesting contender on last season's form.

Just Woody (IRE) Overall level of form looks below what is required to land this event.

Dark Victor (IRE) Ignoring penultimate run this gelding has been running well of late; more required here than when winning Beverley handicap last time out but should be able to land a place.

Cautious Joe Disappointed last time out after scoring well at Ayr; suited by a soft surface and looks to be one for the short list.

Kalingalinga Has been struggling of late with and without blinkers; trainer's horses always worth a look in the market but otherwise is easily opposable.

Markusha Respectable efforts over slightly further than this of late and trainer has excellent record here.

Route Sixty Six (IRE) Loves to get his toe in and has excellent chance of scoring from most of the field who seem to have question marks against their name; suited by track and trip.

Pleading Has been mainly running over shorter but this mile could suit today; has best bare form in field and is respected despite never putting best foot forward on soft.

Xibalba Chance on very best of old form but that is going back two years and others are definitely preferred.

Apache Point (IRE) Very consistent and trainer starting to find form; handles any going and looks main danger to selection,

Toejam Two recent good efforts entitles him to go well here but not proven on soft and could struggle.
