Verdict
JAN SMUTS is 2lb lower than when scoring over the track and trip just over a year ago and will have his favoured good ground. Emma Sayer's claim is a bonus so he can get back to winning ways. Harvey's Hope stays extreme distances and has been running well enough on the Flat and over hurdles to be considered but Perennial's best recent form came on ground with some give. Aldreth has been beaten a long way in recent starts but is on his lowest ever mark so shouldn't be dismissed and Crakehall Lad ran his best race for a very long time over this trip on fast going at Catterick last month.
