Verdict

This looks to be a good opportunity for Dark Empress to get enhance her paddocks value and the daughter of Second Empire is preferred over Yarmouth maiden winner Hoxne Star and Machiventa. The Ralph Beckett-trained selection does have a little to prove on this first try at a mile but she has fared very well against some potentially top-class opposition in her previous outings and the step up in trip is off-set by the ease in grade. Dark Empress was far from disgraced in finishing a close up fifth in a Listed race at Newmarket at the start of this month and she need only run up to that level to get the better of Hoxne Star here. Kelucia will be better off when she is tackles nurseries.
