    Verdict

Chichester won over track and trip in April but was due to run in yesterday’s Carlisle Bell. A winner in France, EAGLEWAY (NAP) went close to returning the surprise winner of the Victoria Cup at Ascot on his UK debut. Today’s longer trip is not a problem and Ivan Furtado’s new charge can go one better. Artistic Rifles remains 8lb higher than when completing a double earlier in the year and finished behind third-placed Hartswood at York last month but Crownthorpe has won off higher marks and placed at Nottingham last time. Orbaan has undergone a second wind operation and is fitted with a tongue-tie on his return from a lay-off.
