Verdict
In a race where stakes should really be kept to the minimum, Gilfoot Breeze gets a tentative vote ahead of Shaffishayes, Copplestone and Awesome Wells. The selection is lightly-raced, drops into this grade for the first time, and comes here on the back of a highly creditable performance when fourth to Mister Chisum at Kelso last time. The form looks solid, as the runner-up has scored twice since. Awesome Wells, who landed something of a gamble when winning a conditional jockeys' handicap at Warwick last time, is an obvious danger under Warren Marston, despite an eight pound rise in the weights. Copplestone is on a fair mark and tends to run well in this grade, but would ideally prefer softer ground, while Shaffishayes is not as good as he used to be but has place claims at least on some of this year's form.
