Verdict

Gibbs Hill looked a Group horse in the making in 2017 having won at Kempton by seven lengths when last in action. The fact that he's not run for 724 days is unlikely to be a problem as his stable is firing on all cylinders so a big run is anticipated. Irish challenger STRATUM warmed up for this with a victory over hurdles at Ballinrobe. Willie Mullins' charge finished just behind runner-up Dubawi Fifty in last summer’s Ascot Stakes but can take his revenge and land this as the latter is another returning from a long lay-off. Who Dares Wins was beaten by Making Miracles in the Chester Cup and the latter has since finished behind third-placed stablemate Austrian School at Sandown. Mark Johnston also runs the progressive King's Advice, who beat Bartholomeu Dias before the latter won over a shorter trip here. Time To Study ran well in the Ascot Stakes recently while Godolphin’s Red Galileo beat Speedo Boy and Proschema when ending a long losing run over 1m6f at Newmarket. Cosmelli won the consolation race for this last year but hasn’t scored since.
