      Verdict

      MELFET made a belated return to action at Kempton a fortnight ago but returned an impressive winner. The Gosdens’ colt can defy a penalty and confirm running with third-placed Alnilam. The latter is fitted with cheekpieces today while Poker Face is another penalised having made a winning debut when scoring at Pontefract with Capparis well beaten. Topomania has placed in both starts over 7f and is preferred to the newcomer Zarabanda.
