Verdict

A poor turnout numerically but an interesting race nonetheless. LEXINGTON TIMES made a very promising debut behind tonight's rival Zephuros here then landed what looked a strong maiden on the track in emphatic style. His stablemate Basateen, who finished third in that latter race, has come out and won by 8l so the form looks very useful. Zephuros hasn't run subsequently but is obviously decent and should have come on for that first run. The well-connected Prince Gagarin receives 7lb from the two winners and made a very encouraging debut behind two much better fancied rivals at Newbury.
