In depth

Verdict

Steelaninch bounced back to form when making all at Ascot last time, and won in good fashion. That was a change of tactics, and it would be interesting to see if the same use of him is made this evening. A reproduction of that form should see off most of his rivals, including Pacific Paddy and Iron Lad, whose winning form looks only moderate. A much bigger danger will be Peripheral. This expensive purchase started a red hot favourite to win her debut at Doncaster. While she was not particularly impressive in beating Bedazzled by a neck, she was somewhat green and a modicum of improvement could be enough to see her maintain her unbeaten record here. The two newcomers are of particular note. Silver Gilt is well related and holds some top entries, while Hayhaat cost almost a quarter of a million dollars as a foal and her stable is finally starting to hit some form.
