Verdict
A typically open Showcase event with a number of leading contenders but the TEAMtalk vote goes to Courageous Duke. Jeremy Noseda's charge has shown a consistent level of form and followed a Newcastle maiden victory over a mile in August with an eye-catching performance over the same trip at Sandown last month. The son of Spinning World was a strong finishing runner-up in a competitive handicap and looks sure to appreciate the step up to a mile and a quarter for the first time. Macadamia landed a minor event over this trip on the July course but had her limitations exposed next time at Sandown and may struggle off her current mark. Countess Miletrian is a genuine performer who may find a little improvement for this trip while The Gaikwar is lightly raced and looks capable of further progress so neither should be underestimated. Ex Irish performer Fresh As A Rose was a convincing Hamilton maiden winner earlier in the week on her British bow and is an interesting type from a yard that can do little wrong at present.
