Verdict

Qabala beat stable companion Mot Juste in the Nell Gwyn to follow up last year’s debut victory on the Rowley Mile. That form would not normally good enough to win a classic but, after just two runs, she is still improving. The Irish runners already have the form in the book and Ryan Moore has chosen Just Wonderful ahead of three others from Ballydoyle. She ran well at the Breeders’ Cup after beating recent Fred Darling winner Dandhu in the Rockfel Stakes here last year but appeared to have no real excuses behind SKITTER SCATTER in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh in September. Now in the John Oxx/Patrick Prendergast yard, did nothing but improve last year when trained by the latter and also holds Lady Kaya and Hermosa on the form book. Sheila Lavery’s filly won the 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown a shade cosily so it’s a surprise that third Iridessa has attracted more market support in this. Fairyland won the Cheveley Park here in September and was only beaten once as a two-year-old but stamina could be an issue on her first try beyond 6f and she is very speedy.
