In depth

Verdict

Fennell Bay won over a mile here in March and wasn't at all disgraced in a much tougher handicap at Epsom on Saturday behind Wrotham Heath. The winner's trainer is represented here by Thomas Chippendale, who raced wide throughout on his return at Newbury and was a little disappointing. He can do better but this is a tough event with Samba King also entitled to do much better than he did here a month ago when favourite after two victories on ground with plenty of give. Godolphin are also represented by Trois Vallees, a winner at Kempton in September and not overburdened on his reappearance. None of the remainder can be dismissed but it's JUNGLE BEAT who is given the nod as John Gosden's Galileo colt was thought good enough to contest a Listed race on his reappearance and he caught the eye despite not getting anything like a clear run.
