Verdict

DUNCAN brings strong claims to the table and can get the better of Campanologist and All The Aces. The selection is from a family of late developers so it was no great surprise to see him improve on the form that he showed for John Dunlop last season but there aren't many that would have deemed him capable of finishing a close fourth in the Coronation Cup. It may not have been a vintage renewal but he finished on the heels of Ask, Youmzain and Look Here who are proven performers and he wouldn't need to improve on that form to win this. Campanologist was strongly fancied at Royal Ascot only to be run out of things by a stablemate of the selection. He's been a consistent performer at this level and is the likeliest beneficiary should Duncan misfire. Doctor Fremantle disappointed in the same race at Royal Ascot when weak in the market; that wasn't his running and he shouldn't be dismissed on the back of one poor run but it obviously raises doubts. Enroller was fourth in the same event on ground that was probably faster than ideal; he could make the frame. All The Aces was beaten by Campanologist and Doctor Fremantle last summer and it may not pay to get carried away with his decisive victory over a relatively exposed field of Listed performers over course and distance. Alwaary has a tough task against his elders, Schiaparelli won three Group 1s on the continent in 2007 but failed to run his race in the Arc when last seen and has plenty to prove on his return whilst the remainder don't look good enough. This can go the way of Duncan.
