Verdict

INDIAN TRAIL heads the short-list from Kay Two and Blue Jack. Kay Two is 3lbs higher than when successful last year but his talented apprentice is able to claim 5lbs. He wasn't at his best when behind three of today's rivals at Sandown (Canadian Danehill, The Jobber and Tony The Tap) but it wouldn't be a great surprise to see him bounce back.Canadian Danehill has failed to win in eight visits to the July Course but gets on well with Dettori who has been aboard for four of the gelding's fifteen career wins. He has an all-weather victory from this mark to his name but was held from this perch in last year's renewal. The Jobber only beat two home a year ago but Ebraam ran a blinder to be third and is 9lbs lower now having struggled of late. Flash McGahon is well treated on his Irish form and may well be able to step up on the form that he's shown in two starts for his current yard but they appear to have a stronger candidate in Indian Trail. He had gone around eighteen months without winning prior to his victory at Epsom but he was 20lbs lower as a result and is still well treated. He struggled to come from off the pace at York prior to winning the race on his side at Newcastle. He appears to be at the top of his game and should be finishing fast and late. Blue Jack has benefited from the fitting of blinkers and was unarguably impressive at Windsor but it may not pay to get too carried away with that performance. Danetime Lily is of interest for a trainer that has enjoyed success on these shores this season whilst Green Beret is unexposed and could have more to offer. It's been five years since Dandy Nicholls reeled off the last of a hat-trick of wins in this race but he could be back in the winner's enclosure with Indian Trail.
