    Verdict

Only one of the last six winners of this fiercely-competitive handicap has started at odds of bigger than 7/1. Montassib, unbeaten prior to finishing fifth in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Ascot, and the three-year-old Samburu, who finished sixth in the Jersey Stakes, are both towards the head of the betting. Ropey Guest often runs well in these big fields and wasn’t far behind Vafortino and Accidental Agent in the Victoria Cup before his excellent second in the Buckingham Palace when RHOSCOLYN was third. Mick Appleby’s charge had a modest draw that day and can come out best here. Jumby beat The Attorney over 7f on the Rowley Mile here in the autumn and the Wokingham third is back over that trip for the first time since while Titan Rock could go well at a price having never got into contention of soft going at Haydock last time.
